Whoa, this is different. I'm using the new Blogger interface. Another reminder of how times are changin' I guess.

Couple weeks back I went to Eaton Centre. I was reluctant to go in, but decided to after awhile. I went in through the Queen subway entrance. First thing I noticed was the south food court was completely boarded up. The convenience store next to Black's had been turned in to debt machines, and everything felt unfamiliar and familiar at the same time. There was a just a few people, the mall had been closed for some time.

I walked towards the middle, where the fountain is. The fountain was still there, looked the same, thank god. The home décor store by the fountain was gone though, I forget what replaced it, but it was some retail store. I decided to take the escalator up to street level. Night crew were working on assembling that same old Christmas tree up here, and there was more people. I noticed some more stores were gone again, Victoria's Secret took up their spots. I walked towards the stairs leading up to Chapters.

Malls are different at night. Especially really busy ones like Eaton Centre. During the day its filled with people and noise. At night its so bare and quiet. Naked. I've never walked on an empty highway at night before, but I'd imagine it would feel similar.

First thing I noticed on the third level was the Chocolate store was gone! I think it was Godiva. Some high-end bag store replaced it. I could see from where I was standing the McDonald's I used to work at would also soon disappear. It had banners saying "We're Moving". I wonder what would replace it...

I figured I should take a picture. So I did. I'm not against change. Change is good. And if history has taught me anything, it's that, change is inevitable and unavoidable. I'm just a jerk running forward, backwards.

There's no one I can be honest with, and I'm starting to wonder if that'll ever change with me. Okay, maybe I'm becoming pessimistic. I feel the same though, everyday feels the same, like everyone else is different day-to-day but me. Gotta focus, instead of staring at the dirt, I guess.

Strange ass dreams I'm having. Last night I dreamt I was at a church garage sale. There was a black GameBoy Pocket I really wanted, it had some nail-polish splashed on it. Also aliens were invading earth, disguised has humans, I'm pretty sure that was both in the same dream. My dreams aren't usually imaginative, and usually feature people I know. Lately, they've all been pretty random, and I'm usually the only person I know in them.

Everything that made me happy, doesn't seem so exciting anymore. WTF is wrong with me.

Studying for two exams tomorrow, and there is an assignment due tomorrow that I haven't even started. I'm crazy. I'm trying very hard to focus, but so much things are running around in my head. I wish I could just shut everything up! It's like a parade of emotions in my head. Random memories pop-up.

I keep thinking about something my high school physics teacher said to me. I was arrogant to him in my response. Now I feel like my whole life I'm still trying to prove him wrong. I've accepted he was right, but that hasn't helped me from getting passed it. It's been years.

Never too early for film talk

Couldn't sleep, well I did, but I woke up. I also got a stomach ache. A friend of mine once told me, "Don't force yourself to sleep if you can't", so I'm not. I'm not just going to be here rambling, I'm gonna do some net surfing too, and listen to this new Richard Marx album I got.

I fixed up this picture a little in Photoshop before I posted it. Nothing serious, just raised the color a bit, and sharpened for the screen. I really like film. Film does an incredible job with handling such a great dynamic range of light. Exposures with film, I know I don't have to worry about the background so much, especially the extremes, such as the sky or the shadows.

With this picture, you can see the sky isn't blown out to some super ugly white sky, or the dark areas of the buildings in the background aren't just completely black. When I shot this, it was an overcast sky and the sun was getting ready to go down. The film I used for this shot was Fuji film Provia 100 I think, it's a 120 roll. I took this from a friend of mines' building. Something about this light pole, when I saw it I knew I had to take a picture of it.

I wish I had a good medium format scanner, and lots of $ for film and development. I really like shooting medium format and film in general. They better not stop making it. I plan to use it as long as I can. There's something special about it I can't explain. It's like the difference between running on a treadmill in some crowded stinky gym or running barefoot outside on a sandy beach, feeling the cool air against your body and hearing the sounds of waves approaching the shore. LLLaammeeeee... I know shudup. I guess what I'm trying to say is, it's more human.

Starbucks

It was nice going for a walk, the sun was out and it wasn't cold. After shoppers I decided to get some tea at the new Starbucks they built by my place. I've always been a Timmies person, and was bias towards Starbucks. I always thought the people in there looked snooty. You know, those "artsy fartsy" types, with shiny macs on their laps, thick frames, and clothes that look like it was either bought at a garage sale or a thrift store, probably both. I don't know why I didn't like those types. I think it might be because I see so much of them, they all sorta look the same. When there's so much of the same and they are always together in the same areas, they just come off like fakes, posers, just trying to look "hip" and be part of a crowd. It didn't bother me, it wasn't like I'd see them and think "aw fuck, I hate those guys". I wasn't totalllly ignorant. I mean, who knows, maybe every single one of them loves Apple products, loves mixing wacky retro clothes together, loves that sturdy feeling thick frames can only provide, and especially loves hangin' out at Starbucks like no tomorrow. Okay that's totally mean, I guess what I'm saying is, I want to still give them the benefit of the doubt.

Either way, I just figured I didn't want to be around them, maybe I felt like I wasn't going to fit in or I just really liked Timmies. Besides, I really didn't like that whole "venti, grande, tall" bullshit. I get it, I get it, its all Italian and shit, and "venti" is twenty in Italian, and a "venti" is around 20 ounces at Starbucks, but geebus come on.

Anyway, I sorta liked just sitting there drinking my tea today. It was nice, they had nice music playing. That's what's very different than Timmies. Music really adds to the atmosphere. Of course their interior design is pretty nice too. I'm not saying I hate that very utilitarian style of Timmies, it's all about function with Timmies. Starbucks is about pleasure I guess. The crowd's always like 15 years younger than your common Timmies crowd, which is sorta nice. I was really getting depressed being surrounded by old people. So I guess what I'm trying to say is, it was nice. Plus, this Starbucks wasn't really packed with a lot of scenesters.

I cleaned and organized my room a bit, it has been a mess lately. I took a picture of my little coffee table, which I now use keep some books. I need to go to Ikea or something, get one of those book braces that holds a pack of books together from tipping. Yes, I took a picture of it, I liked how it looked.

It's been a long time since I blogged about anything. I have a lot to say, but usually I'm too lazy to say it, or I'm too embarrassed. I figured it's time to stop being lazy, and start being productive and true to myself.

Today has been a hard day, but also a day that has made me truly look at myself and face my weakness. I finally just broke apart today. I've been holding my pieces together, but I was a fool to think I could do it forever. I've learned I'm weak sometimes, just like everyone. I'm not some super human who can fix is own problems without the help of others. I've realized, friends, if they truly are your friends, won't judge you, but will help you no matter what. They will help guide you out of that dark cave, as super cheesy as that sounds.

I'm going to try to be more open, starting here. So for anyone who comes by, I sorry for this cheesy as post. For someone else, I'm sorry, I will truly try my best to be a better man from now on.

Took the long way home today. It's nice sometimes, to have a little adventure, you get to see new things or in this case, visit old places you haven't seen in awhile. It was nice being back at Rouge station, reminded me of my high school days. I usually have mixed feelings about that place, but today was nice. Not much has changed, 'cept the west bound 54 now doesn't re-enter the station >:| So many memories lay around. I tried imagining me walking around the area years ago. Where I would have been, standing? Sitting? Who was I with? What was I doing?

Also gave my mind time to just relax. I never realized how simple high school was, how I had so much control. That thought used to bother me, but it's alright now. I realize there's nothing to worry about. I've been letting things just hang loose, hoping it'll sort it self out, but if I keep doing that I'm going to get nowhere. *CORNY ALERT* It's time I start living life, and not just stand still like a statue as life goes on around me.

Well my computer is dead, Linda the 2nd was infected with some seriously gay virus the other day. I'm running ubuntu off a livecd so I can use her. I need to back-up some crap before I can reformat, so till than I'm just going to not use it much. I need to check my school shit though, so thank god I got this livecd. Biology midterm come Wednesday, also first lab on Monday. Me in a lab coat? Yes. I'm going to tie dye mine, lol fuck no.

Playing some SF 3rd Strike. I was bored, so I decided to test out the new camera. Decided to face Jason, er, I mean Sean. I swear they look alike, right down to the tan. HAHAHAHHAAHAAAAAAAAA Anyway, it's a terrible match, you can see the parts where I'm trying to do the really cool Shun Goku Satsu, with the awesome screen turning black and shit, but failing miserably. biology in the summer

So, as some of you must know by know I'm taking biology this summer. Not bad, very interesting subject. Happens late in the day though, so if we're on a particularly dry subject *cough* taxonomy *cough* it becomes a real battle trying to hide my yawns from the prof. Oh yeah the prof, she reminds me of my highschool grade 11 chem teacher. She's brown (I think?) and has some sort of accent that I can't put my finger on. Seems like a very nice lady, but I sometimes get annoyed at the way she teaches. It's sort of like a shot-gun blast of information and sometimes there's multiple shot guns. Her questions are also a little bit on the unanswerable side. Sort of annoying, 'cuz when you answer her, it's technically correct, but there's like a different way of saying what you exactly just said that she's looking for... and then the annoying guy in the back somehow can ... channel his thoughts with her.. and build on what I said and .. somehow pull... what she wanted out of his ass, I mean mouth, which is correct and also practically what you just said. Oh and then there's these times when she TOTALLY confuses us. Like yesterday, when the guy next to me answered that condensation is when water turns in to gas.... which she responded to, "yes!". She's nice though! Extra points for that. At least she trys to make it fun. I assume it's that mysterious language barrier that she's fighting is what is confusing what she says.. ? Yeah. Other than that, biology is great! (so far)

that's exactly what it sounds like. i have fucking bloggers block. i refuse to capitalize, i'm too lazy to reach over to the shift key. you'd think with all this fucking awesome technological advancements, what with japanese fuck-bots and usb keys that physically get fatter with more data you put in it, we'd have some sort of basic built-in universal software that auto-capitalizes the first letter after a period, real time! that is how lazy i've gotten. (if you were hoping for links on those japanese fuck-bots, sorry) anyway, ceral about the bloggers block, i just don't know what to write about. actually there are a couple of things maybe, sometimes, but then i wish my blog was anonymous ;) perhaps i should create a new blog where i can totally bitch and rant about things that piss me off everyday and remain totally anononosuperous. maybe i've already done it! no... i haven't. i'm lazy remember? there are other times though, when i've actually written something, but when i'm finished, i'd have a read through and decide it's crap and delete it. which brings up the question "how did this make it through?", great question.

i've recently started watching this great show and i wanted the internet to know about it. californication, a show on showtime starring fox maulder , also known as david duchovney. funny show so far, with witty lines and funny plots, oh and did i mention there's different boobies in like every episode? another funny show to watch has to be it's always sunny in philadelphia. yeah, i do have time to ctrl+i, smart ass.

When I'm bored I usually can be found stumbling on the internet. Click click click. Jason and Diamond however, started writing a fucking story! Yes! It's Project 3RD. They've written chapters one and two, and chapter 3 is on the way. This is fucking awesome. One! It has us fuckers as the main characters! Two! We're having a reallll fun adventure. It's not like current shit. No fuck, far from it. We're IN SPACE! FLYING SPACE SHIPS AND FIGHTING REMOS! I'm not even going to get in to detail about the Remos on this post. That is another post altogether. Third! IT'S ACTUALLY GOOD!! I mean, when we were little we did some dumb shit like this. For example, we fucking made some comics about ourselves. I think Jason's one was really violent and mine was just plain boring, but both equally pointless. This however, actually flows. It has a plot, it has fun characters, it has a fucking Remo okay? Point made. Anyway, give it a read if you have time. To me, a lot of the characters and space and world enviornment reminds me of Cowboy Bebop, witch by the way you should fucking go see (thanks Shirley!), but to quote one of the authors herself, it's like "Mass Effect mixed with Firefly kinda thing, [b]ut ours is cooler hahaha". Hahaha indeed Diamond, hahaha...

I'm reading this book on Bird Flu. It's interesting, unlike that shit Genome. God damn Genome sucks balls. I don't understand how it was a National Bestseller. I must just be dumb I guess. Maybe the author had a big family and they all bought the book, and word spread among family friends and they all bought it too, blah blah blah, it becomes a national bestseller. .... I'll give it another go in a couple of years. Yes, recently I started looking for music videos for songs I routinely listen to, some have great videos like this one with Mr.Boner, but others really suck, and some don't even have one but fans try to make one and god damn they suck hard and this is a run on sentence wooooooooooooo I'm wearing run-oning sneekers! There has to be a better way. A better way of doing laundry. I mean... fuck. Everything always shrinks in the dryer no matter what god damn setting you put it on. You know what really bugs me. People who take blurry pictures of shit they're trying to sell online. For fuck sakes, take that extra second or two and fucking focus your damn camera. I was reading Torontoist, and just found out that, that whole bomb threat thing over at the ROM couple days ago was just a big sort of.... misunderstanding. Wow, that seriously sucks for this guy, 'cuz he just got suspended from his program and his probably now facing some gay charges by the popo. I think I'm going to have to side with the popo on this though. I get he's just one of those artistic people, whom I don't understand at all, just expressing himself, but leaving the thing by the ROM, than calling the ROM and saying "Listen there's no bomb by the entrance to the museum" then hang up... well that just wasn't too smart.

Black's sucks shit

Black's seriously sucks shit. I bought Ilford 400 XP2 film w/ 24 exposures there for $9.99 and it's fucking $5.99 over at Henry's!!! Thats a fucking difference of 4 fucking dollars?!! What the fuck are they running?? I'm not even going to get on their develop +print costs. Fucking assholes. And at Henry's the XP2 with 36 exposures is fucking $7.99, THATS 12 MORE EXPOSURES AND STILL 2 DOLLARS CHEAPER. Oh yeah, did I mention it's 10% off for students at Henry's? Yepp, never fucking wasting my money in Black's ever again, they can suck m'balls.

However Henry's has it's fucking issues too. Number one, some of their sales associates are real smug assholes, like seriously... come on? Who pays for you're salary? I know this problem essentially exists in all stores with human sales associates, but it's predominately in stores that know they are the shit. I mean, you don't see the smug guy working in the local family owned shop, he's next door in the giant superstore *cough*. Number two, 2-WEEKS DIGITAL SCANS?!! I asked if they could scan my prints when I get them developed. I forget how much it was, but I distinctively remember when the sales associate said it would take 2 weeks.

Downtown Camera, just beside the Henry's Outlet Store by Church & Queen has a pretty nice set-up. For one thing, they have a fucking clean cut pamphlet, sitting in a visible and easily accessible spot, on top of the table, listing the various services their lab offers and prices. For my xp2, it will cost me $12.99 for one day, $8.99 for 3 days, and $4.00 for a second set. But, if I come in on Monday or Wednesday, now up until December 31, I can get my 2nd print for only fucking 2 dollars. That's not bad. The white was getting to my eyes. Lately, bright light has been really bugging me. Getting headaches from really bright sunlight, bright car lights, by my god damn monitor. I had to turn down the contrast and brightness on my monitor for regular use, I only turn them up when I'm uploading and editing photos. Also, I have to actually tilt the rear-view mirror away when the jackass behind has those friggin' really bright lights. That really pisses me off. I understand they're not using high beams, but fuck, it's just as strong. So anyway, I had to darken up this page. Too bad Flickr doesn't offer any custom CSS schemes.

Yeah, I've fallen in love with craigslist. I bookmarked it directly to anything and everything Pentax. Man, browsing through flickr really opens your eyes to different styles. Right now I really want a rangefinder. Anything, as long as it's a damn working rangefinder. Can't spend now though, so it'll have to wait.

Been taking a lot of pictures lately, a lot of random fucking pictures. I think I like my outdated manual primes more than the kit lens. I don't mind having to manually focus, but sometimes I do wish I could use the auto focus, especially continuous. Yes I'm really bitching about all things photography this post. That's because it's been the only thing on my mind lately. At least the only thing not ... depressing.

Music. Found two really great artists this week. Thes One and Double K of People Under the Stairs. It's a freestyle alternative rap/hip hop froup. Yes froup. I call them froup, 'cuz they freestyle. My computer is giving these really annoying errors. Where it kills my Royal windows theme, reverts back to windows classic theme, and kills my audio. Apparently I have no audio now. Which is realllllllllllllly fucking annoying since i JUST bought my fucking 5.1 surround sound speaker system for the PC. Fucking fuck. I must have angered the GigaGods.

Come to think of it, it's been a really long time since I made any real posts. Lately, I've just been posting youtube shit and random short things. I'm going to try to post at least one real post a week, try to keep this blog alive. The day before yesterday I had a look around this blog, went far back and found some things I totally forgot posting about. Which reminded me, why I started blogging in the first place. Help me remember things.... and make fun of people. Okay, more of the second one. Since I have the k10 now, all those pictures I've taken also help me remember things. They're like triggers, which help get those stored memories back.

So what are all the things I'm up to now.... Trying to get my head around color spaces, I can't figure out which is the safest to use, or best. But best isn't necessarily the "best" , I mean I guess it all really depends on what it's for. Ahhhh fuck, this is annoying. sRGB looks great on the monitor, but is it really what I saw? There's so many things I don't know about it. I currently shoot in AdobeRGB, but I save my exports for web in sRGB. Still need to read this PDF on color management by Adobe, but I got work. Oh did I mention all the school work. I wish I would just win the damn lottery, then I could actually spend my life doing things I like/want to do!!

Anyways, I'll keep this blog going. It's got too much shit to crap up now. For now, heres a picture I just finished working on:

A night ago I decided to walk up Yonge street to Collage to meet Chris. As soon as I got to Dudas and Yonge, I was like "what the @$*^?" Looks like they're filming a movie. But what really stood out from all the Hollywood gear was that giant APOLLO sign. I never saw it before, so I figured it must have to be part of the movie. Either that or, Zanzibar's got competition. Anyway, I didn't have my camera at the time, but yesterday I remembered.

After some nosey detective work, I found they're filming the latest installment of the Hulk, The Incredible Hulk. I sorta liked the other Hulk, but I remember a lot of people saying it was crap. This one's starring Edward Norton. I better not tell Mai, I think she likes that jerkface. They're closing down Yonge from Dundas to Gerrard until the 19th, 7pm to 3am. So the final shoot is today. The scene they're filming is suppose to be set in New York.

As anyone noticed movie crew people look like carnies? I fucking hate carnies.

So I finally got to test out my new pair of skates today. First thing I noticed was, MY OLD PAIR OF SKATES SUCKED SOME SERIOUS ASS! This new one's so much more quiet and looks a lot better too. In fact, as I skated around my neighborhood, a group of sexy women suddenly began chasing me. There were 6 in total and all of them were very extremely sexy. They were dressed like those chicks on Eric Prydz's Call On Me video, yeah go figure.

They looked like they really wanted a piece of PV (me), but I was totally like, "No no, I'm so committed to Mai leave me alone you sexy bastards!" and "I know a great guy named Andrew and he'll be more than happy to help you ladies!" But the sexy women wouldn't listen. They just continued chasing after me, I think one was even drooling a little. So I had no choice but to use my super-human abilities. Ok so May's approaching. May is the most scariest month of the year, mainly because in French May is spelled Mai. Anyways, I'll be leaving for the support position in May, and will be there for about 3 weeks. Exciting, but now as it approaches, I'm starting to wonder if I'm ready to actually support? I mean I thought I was? But when I think I got my dose of experience there's a shit load of things I still can't do right! We never stop screwing up.

I think I'll have to borrow Mai's camera :D Sure, I'll be taking the fisheye, but there's only so much shots I can take per day with film. Now, if film was cheap, like say 4 rolls a dollar, well than I'll be friggin' set.

And I've been thinking about this whole mindset I'm running on. I'm always... ahead of myself. Looking far away, not seeing whats near me. Like for example this moving out plan I've had since graduating high school. I really really really do want to move the fuck out. Having my own place to store my shit would be unimaginably fun. Having my friends over, over-night game nights, or simply the solitude it offers. The problem I'm finding is I'm so caught up in this need, I fail to see what I can do in my current position. I'm stuck in this limbo of seeing what I want, wanting nothing but it, that I'm just neglecting my current opportunities.

So I've decided to relax. I try hard to by happy and focus on improving on what is now. Yeah yeah yeah, I know you bastards see that as common sense, but go figure. Your perspective on things change a lot when you suddenly change your depth of field. It's nice to have a blurry background.

Plus, Ronny's right. My mom will never let me move out till I prove I can support myself properly. This is the part where I wish I had white parents. You know, like Ryan's parents.

A 41-year-old elephant at the Sri Meenakshi Amman temple, located in Madurai, passed away today. Yeah I just thought I'd mention that. My mom told me I've apparently met it when I was small, so I was pretty shocked to hear that. Also 41 years is pretty young for elephants, they can live past 70 years. Very nostalgic watching this again. The first time I saw it, it was with Jason when we were about 12 or 11. I didn't even know what Anime was, or that this was even anime. We just liked the gore and partial nudity :D It also didn't make any sense to me, all I knew was this kid named Akira has some super-natural powers. It was also the first time I heard of the Kelvin scale. Akira was stored at a temperature of 0.005°K, which is -272.9995°C. Of course I didn't know that then, but I did notice that room looked awfully cold, practically frozen. Absolute zero is reached at 0°K (-273.15°C), so yeah, they REALLY wanted that thing frozen (and for a good reason). The detail is amazing in the animation, from pieces of paper flying in the wind to some huge-ass exploding muscle creature in the end. Yeah, great movie, watch it.
